With a little care and maintenance, your reusable safety razor could last you a lifetime. To ensure the longevity of your razor, it's important to wipe the razor down after use and store it in a dry place away from water and moisture. It's best to keep it out of the bathroom or in a cupboard that's tightly sealed when closed.
We provide a hessian travel bag within our shaving kits and travel sets, as it's robust and spacious enough to carry your razor, blades and other small shaving accessories. Place the razor head down into the hessian bag when storing.
The length of time a blade lasts all depends on how much you care for the blades, how often you use your razor, the length of your hair, and how you store the reusable safety razor and blades.
If you're shaving daily on a small-medium surface area (face, legs or underarms), we find Shark blades last up to 10 days before losing their edge. That means one pack of blades (5 in each pack) could last you nearly two months. It's important to wipe down the blade after use and store your razor in a dry place. Please don't leave it in the bathroom, as moisture fills the room when you have a bath or shower. This will blunt the blade quicker.
If you purchase a travel shaving set or shaving kit, which both come with blades, you won't need to purchase them for a while. If you need to restock, we sell replacement double-edged blades in packs of 3 or 5, which amounts to 15 or 25 blades. Click here to shop for safety razor blades.
Our plastic-free reusable safety razors take all standard double-edged blades. We currently supply Shark Super Stainless Steel Blades.
We are a small family-run UK business that's sole focus is to provide plastic-free and eco-friendly shaving products to as many people as we can. All of our safety razors, shaving kits, travel sets and accessories are 100% plastic-free and eco-friendly.
We're based in Manchester, England, and we're proud Mancunians!
For our love of the oceans and seas. We wanted to create something that we could be proud of and not just through success. We had to be part of something that made a difference to the plastic problem and that's why Shoreline Shaving was born.
Yes, at the moment. All of our double-edged reusable safety razors and eco shaving kits are plastic-free. Our shaving soap and accessories are free from plastic, too. We currently don't stock any products made from plastic.
We're struggling to manufacture or find a shaving brush that is plastic-free and affordable, which isn't easy. We don't want to charge £20 for a plastic-free shaving brush, as it's just too much.
In the future, we may offer an animal-friendly shaving brush, which would be made with nylon bristles. This isn't ideal for us, as we'd prefer not supply a product that contains plastic.
Yes. All our products are free from cruelty and contain no animal products. We work with our suppliers closely to ensure all of our shaving products are vegan friendly.
Once you're finished with your old double-edged blades, it's important to store them in a safe place like a blade bank. This is usually a metal tin with a small hole in the top, which safely stores your used blades. You can find our blade disposal tins here.
Carefully place your used safety razor blades in the entry slit on top of the tin. When the tin is full, paper tape over both the entry slit and the bottom of the tin.
For safety reasons, we advise you to recycle the whole tin filled with blades and don't empty from the bottom.
Please check with your local recycling centre before disposing of the full blade tin in the scrap metal section.
This is because PTFE coated blades are more difficult to recycle and some recycling centres won't recycle them.
If your local recycling centre doesn't accept PTFE coated blades, you can send them via Terracycle to be recycled free of charge.
Gillette sponsor this service, so you're able to request a free envelope, four times a year, to recycle your razor blades and razor if needs be.
Our safety razors are expertly made by a world-renowned stainless steel manufacturer in the southern part of China. This manufacturer has nearly 40 years of experience in the production of artisan and reusable shaving products with curved chrome heads and weighted grip.
Our production facility is independently audited by Amfori BSCI according to international supply chain standards.
The razors are shipped via sea freight only twice a year to minimise the carbon footprint.
Our metal safety razors are made using brass alloy, which is made up of copper and zinc. This is an alloy made to be corrosion proof. Although the alloy is not made with nickel, there may be traces of nickel within the alloy.
